GDYJ-502A 80kV Dielectric Oil BDV Test Equipment Insulating Oil BDV Testing Kit
1. Test Purpose
Transformer (insulating) oil breakdown voltage(BDV) test is one of the main items in transformer oil test.
The transformer oil plays the role of insulation and cooling, and must have a certain electrical insulation strength during operation. In order to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the transformer, in addition to taking protective measures for the transformer oil in operation to prevent its premature aging, we should also take oil sample tests regularly to know the state of the oil quality in operation. For newly installed transformers, oil samples shall also be taken for test before the new transformers are put into operation.
2. What factors are related to the breakdown voltage of insulating oil?
The dielectric strength of insulating oil (also known as breakdown voltage or withstand voltage) is not only related to dry and wet weather, but also related to the temperature of insulating oil during test and the atmospheric pressure of test environment.
1) When the temperature is below 25 ℃, the insulating oil becomes emulsified due to the moisture contained in the oil, so the breakdown voltage of the oil decreases with the decrease of temperature.
2) However, when the temperature is lower than 0 ℃, as all the water in the insulating oil is decomposed into ice, the breakdown voltage of the oil will be increased.
3) Generally, the breakdown voltage is the highest when the oil temperature is 65~80 ℃, because the water in the transformer oil is dissolved in the oil in the molecular state. If the temperature exceeds 80 ℃, the breakdown voltage starts to drop again. This is because the movement energy of polar molecules such as pollution particles suspended in the oil is accelerated, thus increasing the probability of breakdown in the oil.
In addition, breakdown voltage of the insulating oil is also related to atmospheric pressure of the test environment. When the atmospheric pressure increases, the insulation strength also increases.
